Love Knows No Age: Single Seniors in the Empire State
Valentine's Day is Friday and love is in the air, even for the seasoned romantics of New York State. A new study reveals that a record-breaking 26 million American seniors are flying solo this Cupid's Day.

The U.S. Census Bureau says this is a 5.8 million increase in single seniors from a decade back. It looks like this number could increase because over 4 million more Americans could be joining the senior singles club in 2025.
Looks like we're in for a wave of what is being referred to as the "Gray Tsunami." So how does New York rank in all of this. It turns out that the Empire State ranks as the 30th best state for single seniors.
The Silver Haired Foxes are making their presence known in the dating pool more than ever before. With marriage rates for adults aged 65 and older hitting a 10-year high at 56.3%, Cupid will be busy spreading love throughout New York.
Seniorly did some digging, using data from the CDC, FBI, and Census Bureau, to see how New York State ranks among the best and worst places for single seniors. In the Empire State, you can expect to live it up with a solid life expectancy at 65 (#4), a good chunk of single seniors (#3), and plenty of awesome spots to grab a bite (#10) if you're in the mood for wining and dining.
It's not all rainbows and butterflies for our single seniors in New York. Watch out for some challenges like a higher-than-ideal STI rate among seniors (#47), pricey date nights (#47), and a number of older adults moving in with their grandkids (#42) that might shake things up on the social front.
Whether you're a single senior hunting for love or content just doing your own thing, New York is a fantastic dating scene for the Silver Haired Foxes this Valentine’s Day.
