The “Cannabis Conversations” ads include advice to consume away from other people, refrain from driving while under the influence and who will be allowed to consume weed once legal sales begin.  The campaign is scheduled to run for about three months.

The radio, television, social media and billboard ads are the State’s first public health education campaign on cannabis following the recent approval of legalizing adult recreational use of marijuana.

Governor Kathy Hochul says the effort is aimed at educating residents to keep residents healthy, quote: “as we continue to ramp up this safe, inclusive and equitable industry.”

The ads that started over the weekend highlight that the legalization of cannabis is “only for adults 21 years old and over, not driving under the influence, keeping second-hand cannabis smoke away from other people, locking up cannabis and storing it out of reach of children and pets.”

Officials say other messages are planned for the future to reinforce and expand those first messages.
