As a basketball official for over 30 years, I've noticed that what happens in the NBA and college finds its way into the high school auditorium. A perfect example is flopping. In fact, it's been happening so much that beginning in the 2024-25 season, a player/team can be penalized for flopping.

As far as the "did he or didn't he?" flopping in the NBA, they have trying to curb this deceptive act for a while now. Even after that, some players just can't resist adding a bit of theatrics to their game.

VegasInsider took a look into the NBA fine data to sift out the teams that have been caught red-handed when it comes to flopping over the past 10 years. And guess what? Our very own New York Knicks have emerged as one of the least fined teams for this crafty move.

According to the findings, the New York Knicks ranked 17th place, only incurring $4,000 in fines for flopping over the past decade. It seems like the Knickerbockers have been fairly clean when it comes to embellishing the opponents' touches.

In contrast, the Indiana Pacers, take the crown for being the most fined team in the flopping arena, amassing $30,000 in fines. The Boston Celtics come in at second place with a tab of $20,000, followed by the Los Angeles Clippers at $14,000.

The Miami Heat and the Houston Rockets are the only other teams to have notched up five-figure fines, with $12,000 and $10,000 respectively. It's worth mentioning that this data offers an insight into the behind-the-scenes shenanigans that unfold in the NBA..

So, as you watch the Knicks battle it out on the court, let's hope they can keep their cool and avoid those floppy flop fines.
