New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is continuing to “highly discourage” travel between the Empire State and the states sharing its border that meet the criteria set for a 14-day quarantine to fight the spread of the coronavirus.

Massachusetts now also meets the criteria along with Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut. But Cuomo says it is not practical to enforce a 14-day quarantine with the states that share its borders with thousands of people driving back and forth across the borders between home and work daily.

In a news briefing October 27, the Democrat said: “That said, New York State highly discourages, to the extent practical, non-essential travel between Connecticut, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania while they meet the travel advisory criteria.” That is an area with a positive test rate higher than ten per 100-thousand residents over a seven-day rolling average.

California, however, is now on New York’s quarantine list of 45 states and territories.
