Syracuse fans were really rejoicing after a convincing 31-7 win over Louisville on Saturday, Sept 3rd at the Loud House. Here in the Southern Tier, Binghamton University doesn't have a college football team.

So since Binghamton University doesn't have a college football team, who is the Southern Tier's team?

Cortland Red Dragons. I'm not overly surprised with SUNY Cortland so close to Broome County. Many really good football players from the area play there and they can get a great education at the same time.

It's also been harder to cheer for the Orange for the past decade, so going for the Red (Dragons) makes a lot of sense.

Ithaca College. The Bombers are near by and if you are looking to make a day of it, you can also enjoy the waterfalls and the wineries.

Colgate Raiders. They are close by, but it's history is what has me intrigued. They won the national championship in 1932 without ever being scored on. They weren't invited to the Rose Bowl so they were "undefeated, untied, unscored upon, and uninvited."

Tompkins County's Official College Football Team

Cornell Big Red. I have to admit that this surprises me a little because the county seat is in Ithaca. The name is in honor of Daniel D. Thompkins who was the Governor of New York and a Vice President of the United States

Cortland Red Dragons. If you live in Cortland, then you should be cheering for the Dragons. See Broome County for further reasons.

Delaware County's Official College Football Team

Hartwick College Hawks. There are 19 NCAA Division III teams, so almost a third of their students compete in varsity sports. Your bound to know someone playing on the field. It's also close by.
