A downtown Binghamton spot that's been home to a series of restaurants, bars and clubs over the years is about to get a new life.

A representative of the business said Aqua Nightclub is scheduled to open on December 2, when Binghamton University students are back in town following the Thanksgiving break.

The club will be located at 124 State Street, next to a city-owned parking garage.

Online records show the State Liquor Authority has issued a temporary liquor license for the establishment to Luckid LLC, which is linked to an address on Binghamton's West Side. The permit, which had an effective date of November 9, is due to expire on February 6.

The Liquid Lounge was the last business that operated from the State Street building. In the past, the place hosted Bar 607, Benlin's and the Beaugart.

New signs were installed in September and some other exterior alterations were made.

In an online posting, Aqua describes itself as "the hottest, new eye-catching college nightclub and party venue."

The business representative said Aqua will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
