And welcome to the weekend. We've been working hard to get to this point, and now that it's here, it's time to find stuff to do over the weekend. Or not. Maybe your plans are to sit on the couch and binge-watch the Netflix series Squid Game. Well, I already did that. Blown away (not literally.) Not giving out any spoilers here.

As of now (Friday 10/15 Noon) the National Weather Service is predicting a 100 percent chance of rain for Saturday and Sunday could be a mix. Well, that's not what I was hoping for. This weekend, I'm a bachelor, spending my free time at the campground to begin storing stuff away for the winter season.

A lot of the work is outside storing away lawn furniture, lawn ornaments, and I have a lot of them, including pink flamingos. C'mon, they are all part of the rural camping experience. I'll be winterizing my lawnmower, golf cart, taking down the bird feeders, closing down the patio bar, covering up the fireplace, firewood, bicycles, and other outdoor stuff to keep them safe from the nasty winter elements that are coming soon.

And then there's the inside of the camper, where I've accumulated way too much stuff. Much of it can remain over the winter, but some stuff needs to come home, like all the food in the cupboards and refrigerator, including defrosting the refrigerator.

Most of the inside stuff will get taken care of next weekend with my wife and the final weekend of the month, a buddy and I will winterize the camper, blowing out the water liners, adding anti-freeze, covering up anything left, rolling in the slideouts and locking up.

After all that, the only thing left to do will be to shed a tear as I drive away looking into my rearview mirror on another amazing six-month camping experience. I guess the thing I will miss most is hanging out with my camp friends around a roaring fire, drinking more than we should, picking on each other, and laughing all those summer weekend evenings away. My camp countdown clock is set for May 1st, 2022.
