More banking locations in Broome County will be closing in the coming weeks.

M&T Bank plans to shut down two drive-up sites in Binghamton later this spring.

The First Ward drive-up unit at 202 Clinton Street will close at noon on June 7. The Binghamton Plaza drive-up location at 33 West State Street will close at noon the following day.

Julia Berchou, a spokeswoman for the Buffalo-based M&T Bank, said an ATM will remain in service at the Binghamton Plaza site. She said customers were notified of the impending closings on March 5.

Berchou said the consolidations are part of an "ongoing assessment" of branch locations and staffing. She said no employees are affected and "no other local closures are planned at this time."

Berchu said M&T Bank maintains ten branch offices in Broome County.

Major banking companies have been moving to reduce the number of locations they operate as more customers choose to do their transactions online.

KeyBank last month announced it would close its office at 65 Court Street in downtown Binghamton on June 25.
