UPDATE:  According to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, Sophia was safely located behind the Endwell Fire Department by BCSO’s Strategic Response Group using a UAV drone. She has since been reunited with her family. The Sheriff’s Office also thanked the community for submitting tips and helping bring about her safe return.

When a child goes missing, it’s every parent’s worst nightmare, and right now, that fear is being lived by a family in our own community.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a missing juvenile reported in the Town of Union. A 15-year-old girl has not been located, and deputies are now asking the public to help as the investigation continues.

Timeline of Sophia’s Last Known Sighting

A previous report from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office stated that Sophia was last seen around 7:35 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026. However, an updated report from the Sheriff’s Office now says she was last seen at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the Dunkin’ Donuts on Country Club Road in the Town of Union, wearing a black sweatshirt and black sweatpants.

What Sophia Looks Like and What She Was Wearing

Sophia is described as a white female, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighing approximately 100 pounds. She has brown hair with purple streaks. At the time she was last seen, she was wearing a gray and blue sweatshirt, black plaid pajama pants, and Converse shoes.
