Southern Tier Salutes High School Students Entering the Military
It takes a very special kind of individual to pledge their dedication to the United States of America through service in our military and the Conklin Kiwanis Club is doing its part to recognize and honor area students who will be doing just that.
The Conklin Kiwanis Club is inviting the public to a special ceremony that will applaud recent high school graduates from schools in the Broome and Tioga BOCES Districts who have committed to entering the United States military.
The event, which is being called “The First to Say Thank You,” will be held this Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., at Windsor Central High School in Windsor, and all are invited to attend.
Our Community Salutes is a national non-profit organization that was created to recognize high school seniors who will be enlisting following graduation and it is this organization that the Conklin Kiwanis Club has partnered with for the eighth year.
"The First to Say Thank You" program will feature the Windsor High School Music Department, the Color Guard from the Broome County Veterans’ Memorial Association an Invocation from Chaplain (Lieutenant Colonel) Douglas Brock as well as a number of presentations which will be made to the recruits.
Speakers at "The First to Say Thank You" at Windsor Central High School will include Scott Beattie who is the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Windsor Central School District; Eugene Clark who is the National Executive Director, Our Community Salutes; and the Keynote Speaker will be Major General Peter S. Lennon who is returned from the United States Army.
Following the ceremony will be a brief reception and all are also welcome to attend that. Anyone looking for more information should contact Bill Krasowsky at 607-238-7554.
