Say What! Max Scherzer’s Ponies Appearance Will Benefit Binghamton Families

caused quite the stir when he came to Rumble Town for a rehab start with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. On Tuesday, June 21st, a record-breaking crowd of  7,491 crowded into Mirabito Stadium to watch the future Hall of Famer.

He started the game by striking out the side and ended his stint with the Ponies after giving up a 1-out homer in the top of the 4th. He allowed three hits and two runs and gave a quick wave to the crowd before heading into the dugout.

By now, you've probably heard about the "controversy" at his post-pitch press conference. Did he bash Binghamton and the Rumble Ponies? You decide.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and you can decide for yourself what he meant. Let's turn possible lemons into lemonade and move on. I will give him credit, while he was here, he took the time to sign a red "Bing" jersey.

While he was here for his rehab start, he signed the jersey and Binghamton will auction it off. The proceeds will benefit The Rumble Ponies Foundation, this foundation was started to benefit youth and family services in the Southern Tier.

The auction runs until Saturday, June 25th at 6 p.m. so bid now and bid often. So whatever you thought about his comments, in the long run, he'll be helping out families in the Southern Tier and that's good enough for me.
