Congratulations to NY Army National Guard Specialist, Dakoattah Miller from Cortland. He's been named the Best Warrior for the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. The Best Warrior competition tests a Soldiers military knowledge along with physical fitness, land navigations skills, and marksmanship.

It was a two-day competition that took place at the New York National Guard training facility on October 23rd and 24th at Camp Smith Training Site. There are two Best Warrior winners: a junior enlisted Soldier and a non-commissioned officer.

Miller will represent the brigade in the contest for the best junior enlisted The winners will then advance to the regional competition and if (when) he wins that, he'll advance to compete against the Best Warriors from other parts of the country to be the best in the Army National Guard.

Miller was also given the Army Commendation Medal in recognition of his achievement. He is assigned to the Headquarters Company of the 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment in Utica.
