The New York State Department of Transportation has work scheduled just for Monday and Tuesday to ease congestion during theThanksgiving holiday travel period.

Traffic is to be reduced to one lane on Route 7 North and South between Robinson and Bevier Streets and on I-81 North/ Route 17 West between Exit 3 and Exit 4-A. The work is being done November 25 & 26.

There are also alternating lane closures planned for Route 17 east and west between Prospect Street and Airport Road, on Broad Avenue from Abbot Street to Bevier Street, on Bevier Street from Chenango Street to Broad Avenue and on Interstate 81 South between Exit 5 to Front Street and Broad Avenue.  Flagging operations are also scheduled on Front Street between Prospect Street and Bevier Street.

While crews will be taking a break Wednesday through the rest of the week, motorists are reminded that the reduced speeds and lane restrictions remain in effect in work zones even when construction crews aren’t actively working at those locations.
