After the curtain closed on Wednesday's (Nov. 14) CMA Awards, country music's most-awarded stars enjoyed an onslaught of "Mean Tweets," courtesy of talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and some angry internet users.

Artists like Thomas Rhett, Dierks Bentley and CMA Album of the Year winner Kacey Musgraves were at the mercy of the firing squad in this go-round, and they were good sports.

"Put some freaking clothes on Kacey Musgraves," the Texas native read from her phone. "That outfit is not country."

Come to find out the singer actually agreed with the Twitter user.

But other tweets were more harsh, including one that called New Artist of the Year Luke Combs "the human manifestation of cornbread." And of course, what would Twitter be without a little shade toward rock group Nickelback?

"People who say Nickelback is the worst band obviously haven’t heard Rascal Flatts," Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus read alongside Joe Don Rooney.

Then came the tweets so dirty that certain words had to be bleeped out by the censors. But that didn’t seem to bother artists such as Jake Owen and Vocal Group of the Year Old Dominion.

"Jake Owen can lick a fat pimple covered d--k," the Florida native read. "And so can all you fake f--king 'country' people with your boots and flannels."

"I'd rather leave my pecker hanging out of my church pants than listen to an Old Dominion album," the members of Old Dominion also read, luckily with smiles on their faces.

Through the years, a good majority of country music artists have fallen victim to the "Mean Tweets" segment, including Luke BryanBlake Shelton and Carrie Underwood.
