The Polywork Hustle: Juggling Jobs in New York State
New Yorkers, It's no secret that making ends meet in the Empire State can be a challenge, and it looks like more of us in the state are turning to the polywork hustle. That's when you balance not one, but many jobs and it's become the new normal for many of us. In fact, I've been doing it for years and it's been very beneficial for me.
SideHustles.com came out with a new report on the state of polyworking, and the results are interesting. New Yorkers holding down multiple jobs are putting in 50 hours every week.
According to the report, 24% of New York workers are embracing the polywork lifestyle. The ladies in the state are leading the charge at 26%, compared to the guys at 18%. It looks like the high cost of living in New York is pushing over half of workers to consider picking up a second gig.
A third of New York's remote workers are doing the polywork hustle, and three out of five polyworkers are keeping their side hustles to themselves and not telling their main employers.
The upside of polywork is the extra money that you can make but there is a potential downside too. 34% of polyworkers in the state are feeling the burnout from their side hustle. Balancing several jobs is no easy feat, and sometimes you have to ask yourself if it's really worth it.
There is a saying that I believe in - Money can be replaced but time can not. If you're a New York resident hustling hard with multiple jobs, know that you're not alone. Keep grinding, take care of yourself, and remember to take a break for yourself too.
