Police in Johnson City say they've arrested a suspect after an occupied vehicle was struck by gunfire.

Authorities say 30-year-old Denzel Duncan of Johnson City has been charged with second-degree attempted murder and criminal use of a firearm. He also faces three counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Investigators say village police received a report of the shooting incident on Diment Street around 8 a.m. Sunday. Officers learned Duncan was the suspected shooter. He had left the area by the time they arrived.

Detectives recovered 9mm shell casing and other evidence from the scene. They found a loaded 9mm handgun when they searched Duncan's residence.

Duncan was taken into custody Wednesday at a location on Arlington Street in Johnson City. He was being held at the Johnson City police headquarters awaiting arraignment.

Police say Duncan knew the person he was shooting at. They did not say how many shots were fired in the incident.
