Authorities say 36-year-old Alvin Young of Binghamton had faced ten charges in connection with his arrest at the LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Johnson City.

The Broome County special investigations unit task force and village police executed a search warrant at the Harry L Drive hotel on March 23.

When police forced their way into a room, they saw Young flushing crack cocaine down the toilet. Investigators recovered about 51 grams of the drug from the toilet.

Police also confiscated $13,905, packaging material and a digital scale.

In addition to the prison term, Young must forfeit the proceeds from drug sales.

Before he was taken into custody in Johnson City, authorities say Young had previously fled from investigators. They say he also had been sought on other drug sales charges and an active parole warrant.
