A Broome County resident accused of stealing lobster tails from a town of Chenango business faces felony charges.

Authorities say 26-year-old Cory Boyce of Johnson City allegedly stole the seafood from Maines Food and Party Warehouse at 1018 Front Street.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office was notified of a "crime in progress" at the store Monday afternoon.

Investigators say Boyce previously had been banned from the store. He allegedly forcibly stole the merchandise, which was valued at about $100.

Boyce is said to have struggled with Maines employees before sheriff's deputies arrived. Detective Sergeant John Harder said the lobster tails were "found on his person."

Boyce was charged with third-degree robbery and third-degree burglary. He also faces counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument.

Boyce was being held at Broome County Jail on $500 bail.
