Two Charged in Endicott Shooting, Police Say Others Were Involved

Endicott police have arrested two men in connection with a shooting incident near Washington Avenue.

Investigators said they are trying to identify three other people who were involved in the incident, which occurred shortly after 3 p.m. January 14.

Authorities said 18-year-old Jahiem Howard of Endicott and 20-year-old Sincere Chandler of Syracuse have been charged with felony reckless endangerment.

A person in the area of 21 Washington Avenue reported hearing about ten gunshots that apparently were fired in a municipal parking lot between the building and Garfield Avenue.

Those involved in the incident ran from the area before police officers reached the scene. No injuries were reported. Police did not say whether any of the shots struck vehicles or buildings.

Investigators said Howard and Chandler were taken into custody a few hours later at 21 Washington Avenue.

Police executed a search warrant in an apartment in the building. According to a department news release, officers found two handguns "and other items related to the investigation."

Howard and Chandler were arraigned and released on their own recognizance.
