Trailside Inn Preparing to Open in Historic Vestal Building
The next chapter for a 180-year-old structure in Vestal may be about to get underway.
The long-awaited opening of the Trailside Inn may happen soon, although the owner has not announced a target date.
Jeannie Post announced plans more than four years ago to transform the historic Drovers Inn into a boutique hotel with a restaurant.
Remodeling work began on the two-story building on Pumphouse Road, just west of North Main Street.
Post had hoped to open the business in the summer of 2021 but the renovation project was halted before operations began.
Last April, Post confirmed to WNBF News that work had resumed. During a brief conversation, she said the business "will open" but she declined to say when.
Paul Daniels, who had previously been named Trailside Inn general manager, on Friday indicated work to prepare for the opening was nearly finished. He declined to say when operations were expected to start, referring a reporter to Post, who could not be reached.
In a social media message in June, Post wrote "we have been continuing work on the building and we are almost ready to open."
