A Tioga County high school senior is dead after crashing the car he was driving into a house on Monday morning, September 26.

Tioga County Sheriff’s officials were called to a report of a crash on Ithaca Road in the Town of Spencer shortly before 8 o'clock and found the sedan driven by a 16-year-old had left the road and crashed into the building.

The Spencer Van Etten school district posted on social media condolences for Traviz Allen’s family and saying counselors are being made available.  A news release from the sheriff’s office did not reveal the driver’s name.

Authorities say the sedan had been traveling south on Ithaca Road at around 7:53 a.m. when it went off the west side of the roadway and smashed into the house at 420 Ithaca Road.

Investigators say none of the occupants in the home was seriously hurt but the teenaged driver of the sedan was taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre by Candor Ambulance with personnel from the Guthrie Life Flight also in attendance.

Posts on social media are indicating a fundraising effort has been started for the teen’s family.

A statement to Spencer Van Etten families from District Superintendent Barbara Case said: “We are saddened by this loss to our school community and will make every effort to assist you and your child.”  Case asks caregivers to listen carefully to their child’s thoughts and emotions and to share any information they think the district should be made aware of.

Tioga Sheriff’s officials say the investigation into the crash is continuing.
