Tuesday, June 30th - Rumble Ponies -  5  Baysox - 3

The Rumble Ponies went in the hole early and couldn’t muster together a late rally, falling to the Baysox (3-4), 8-4. On a 94-degree night, home runs were at the forefront early on as Chesapeake took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Binghamton’s bullpen was flawless as right-hander Brian Metoyer replaced Girton, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Right-hander Carlos Guzman followed with two perfect innings and two strikeouts. Right-hander Zach Peek pitched a perfect top of the ninth inning as Binghamton retired 12 of the final 13 Baysox batters.

Binghamton put up 13 hits to the Baysox's seven hits but lost by four runs. Nick Lorusso hit his team-leading 14th homer, JT Schwartz hit his 8th of the year and his 10th multi-hit game, and Nick Rosselli tallied his first multi-hit Double-A game.

Thursday, July 2 - Baysox - 8  Rumble Ponies - 4

Binghamton took a two-run lead heading into the ninth, but the Baysox scored six ninth-inning runs to win the game 8-4. In the ninth inning, right-hander Douglas Orellana looked for his third save of the year, but Chesapeake teed off to take a 7-4 lead off of Orellana and score six runs in the ninth. 

The Baysox loaded the bases and set up designated hitter Aron Estrada, who delivered a go-ahead grand slam. One batter later, Ethan Anderson smashed his 17th homer of the year, a solo shot that went 431 feet. Orellana did not record an out as right-hander Saul Garcia came in relief. With two outs in the ninth, left fielder Doug Hodo ripped an RBI double, scoring second baseman Fredrick Bencosme, who had a four-hit night. Vincent Perozo clubbed his 7th Double-A homer, Kevin Parada tallied his 3rd multi-hit game, and Nick Lucky has 10 hits over his first 11 games.

Friday, July 3 - Baysox - 5  Rumble Ponies - 4

 Binghamton blew a ninth-inning lead for the second straight night as Chesapeake held on to a 5-4 victory. The Ponies were tied with the Baysox, 3-3, in the bottom of the eighth inning and threatened early to take the lead. Right fielder Matt Rudick walked for the third time, stole second base, and went to third on a wild pitch from Cabrera. It was second baseman Nick Lucky who delivered the 4-3 lead.

Lucky tallied a three-hit game and tied a career high with three RBIs in the loss. Against right-hander Zane Barnhart, Binghamton went down to lose the game, as Chesapeake has scored eight ninth-inning runs over the last two nights to come back and win.  

The night started strong for Binghamton as right-hander R.J. Gordon delivered his best start of the year, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings. The Mets' No. 6 starting pitching prospect allowed five hits and struck out two batters. R.J. Gordon went a season high in innings pitched and tallied his second scoreless outing.

Saturday, July 4 - Baysox - 5  Rumble Ponies - 3

The Rumble Ponies fell to the Baysox 5-3 on Independence Day. The Ponies scored in the first inning for the third time in this series, taking a 1-0 lead. Third baseman Nick Lorusso walked with two outs, and first baseman JT Schwartz followed with his 13th double of the year to score Lorusso. Schwartz has doubled in the first inning in back-to-back games.

Right-hander Bryce Conley got the ball for Binghamton, going 5.0 innings and allowing four runs, with three of them being earned. The Ponies' offense left seven on through seven innings, after designated hitter Chris Suero walked for the 47th time this season in the seventh inning. He stole his second base for his 22nd stolen base before being stranded at third as right-hander Ryan Long got Lorusso to fly out. 

The Baysox lead the series 4-1, and Binghamton has lost every series since June 7 against Reading.  JT Schwartz tallied his 13th double, Kevin Villavicencio picked up his 6th Double-A RBI, and Matt Rudick has scored five runs over the last two games.

Sunday, July 5 - Baysox - 2  Rumble Ponies - 0

 Binghamton fell to Chesapeake 2-0, as the team has now lost five straight games and begins the second half of the season 2-10.

Sunday was a pitchers' duel to the Southern Tier between Mets No. 7 prospect, the left-hander Jonathan Santucci, and Orioles No. 3 prospect, the left-hander Luis De León.

Santucci set a career high with 10 strikeouts over 6.0 innings, surrendering two hits and two runs. The 23-year-old has gone 6.0 innings four times this season, and his 10 punchouts are the most for a Ponies pitcher this year.

De León tossed 5.2 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts, which were both season highs. The 23-year-old just surrendered one hit and walked three batters.

With this game, Jonathan Santucci set a season-high 10 strikeouts.

The Next Challenge For The Rumble Ponies

The Ponies will begin a six-game series with the Hartford Yard Goats on Tuesday, July 7th at Dunkin' Donuts Park.
