Binghamton Resident Pleads Guilty After Police Raid

Broome County District Attorney F. Paul Battisti recently announced that 41-year-old Robert C. Wilson, a resident of Binghamton, has pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree and to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

Wilson's charges stem from an incident on November 25, 2024, when he was found in possession of a Taurus 9mm handgun in Broome County Court.

The case dates back to July 19, 2024, when the Broome County Special Investigations Unit carried out a narcotics search warrant at 194 Main Street, Rear Apartment 4, in the City of Binghamton. During the search, law enforcement officers uncovered a significant amount of illegal substances, including approximately 93.9 grams of methamphetamine, 46.1 grams of cocaine, and 3.8 grams of fentanyl. They also found cutting agents, packaging materials, a digital scale, and $7,796 in cash.

As a result of the investigation, Wilson has been sentenced to 8 years in New York State Prison for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and another 8 years for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. Both sentences are to be served concurrently, with an additional 3 years of post-release supervision for the drug possession charge and 5 years for the weapon possession charge.

District Attorney Battisti emphasized the severity of Wilson's actions, stating that his blatant disregard for the law posed a risk to the community.

The investigation was conducted by the Broome County Special Investigations Unit, with Senior Assistant District Attorney Joseph Nieto prosecuting the case on behalf of the District Attorney’s Office.
