It's safe to say just about everyone has lost something in a move, but a Pennsylvania man's loss has eyebrows raised.

Pennsylvania State Police say they are investigating what started as a gun-owner thinking he was just forgetful turning into a stolen weapon complaint.

Troopers say a 49-year-old Telford, Pennsylvania man was moving last month and thought he had misplaced his pistol and shotgun, but now thinks they were stolen.

According to a news release from the Pennsylvania State Police Barracks in Gibson.  The man reports sometime between midnight on July 13 and 7 a.m. on July 16, he lost track of his weapons.

The missing firearms that now are reported as stolen firearms are described in the news release as a “Smith & Wesson or Swaziland Use Country Code if make cannot be determined with a brushed stainless finish, 10-round S&W 9 millimeter pistol” and a Mossburg, O.F. Mossberg & Sons Incorporated brand camo finish Mossberg 12-gage pump action shotgun.

The pistol is valued at 900 dollars while the shotgun is valued at 500 dollars.

The guns apparently were apparently misplaced or stolen in the area of Hall Road and Brushville Road in New Milford Township in Susquehanna County.

Gun dealers, collectors and private sellers should be on the lookout for the firearms listed in the complaint.  Information about the items can be called in to local law enforcement agencies.  Anyone with leads in the case can also reach out to the Pennsylvania State Police in Gibson at 570-465-5154. The case number is PA 2022-919610.  The State Trooper listed as the investigating officer in the news release is identified as Trooper Florey.
