Pasquale’s Deli Building in Binghamton Listed for Sale
One year after a beloved Binghamton deli suddenly closed, the building and its restaurant equipment are on the market.
Longtime customers of Pasquale's Deli were surprised when the iconic business shut down last October with no advance notice.
The deli had operated at 180 Broad Avenue for many years. Customers learned of the closure after the fact in a brief message posted on social media.
The place sprang back to life more than four months later. Binghamton businessman Jesus Clarke launched Pasquale's Soup & Sandwich Shop at the site in March.
Now the property is for sale. Perry Pasquale, who owns the building, had operated the deli before it closed. He has announced "the bittersweet decision to sell the building that played such a vital role in our lives for decades."
In an online post, Pasquale said the place is "for sale and ready for its next chapter." The asking price for the building and the restaurant equipment is $249,000.
Although the property is on the market, Clarke said he plans to continue operating the soup and sandwich shop at the site for now. He also will focus on his Big Zues Barbecue restaurant downtown.
Clarke said the Broad Avenue operation is closed this week but it will reopen next Tuesday. While the future of the East Side location remains uncertain he said "I'm optimistic."
