Binghamton Police to Monitor Possible After-Hours Club Events
A Binghamton property that city officials said once was home to an after-hours club is being watched again by the authorities.
Mayor Jared Kraham said police will be keeping an eye on a First Ward site after social media posts were discovered promoting a pair of events this weekend.
The announcements indicate the events - one billed as a "Sexy Masquerade" and the other described as a "SantaCon After Party" - are to take place at 333 Clinton Street. According to the posts, doors are to open at 3 a.m.
Kraham told WNBF News city police have been monitoring the building in recent weeks for possible illegal after-hours activity.
The mayor said he views the social media posts advertising events this weekend as "pretty brazen." He said there will be a police presence observing the site for potential violations of the law.
In 2021, the city issued a zoning citation against the property owner and the operator of the purported after-hours business following a report of shots fired and other incidents at the site.
Since then, the property was sold to Outstanding Services 5 LLC. A Binghamton man, Omar Boone, confirmed to WNBF News that he had acquired the site.
Boone said a promoter had told him she would use the location for a private party. He said he was not aware that any after-hours events were being promoted publicly.
Boone said he would discuss the matter with the promoter. He indicated if there are plans for an illegal after-hours event "I'm going to have to shut it down."
