Sure, it's still the Autumn season, but let's face it, it's wintertime. The holiday season is here, with Thanksgiving less than a week away, and special holiday events have begun or are about to start.

If you love drive-thru light festivals, check out a couple of really cool ones, including the Festival of Lights at Otsiningo Park in Binghamton and the Peace, Love and Lights Festival at Bethel Woods. For information, click on a recent article I wrote about these two events.

Another fun event to check out this holiday season is actually a series of events. Winterfest returns to the Tioga Downs Casino Resort in Nichols.

Winterfest begins on November 28th and runs through December 20th with plenty of fun for the entire family.

Events include wagon rides each Friday and Saturday from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The first weekend, November 29th and 30th, will feature a craft fair.

Friday, December 5th, there will be two performances of Christmas with Elvis featuring Rick Alviti - The Ultimate Elvis Tribute, at 6 and 8 p.m.

Sunday, December 7th, Winterfest will feature the Love N’ Stuff Bear Factory beginning at 12 Noon while supplies last, and on Saturday, December 13th, there will be a book signing from 12 to 4 p.m. Check the Tioga Downs website for more information on the book signing.

Saturday, December 29th, the fun continues with the Holiday Wreath Contest. According to Tioga Downs, those interested would submit their wreath between December 1st and December 20th.

Winners will be announced at 7 p.m., with first place receiving $300, second place, $200, and third place, $100.Sanphy Strings will be performing from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
