The Binghamton area is a great place to participate in many yearly 5K races. Every event that is held in the area is well attended. It's great to run in these races and even more significant to cross that finish line.

And speaking of races, one of the premier triathlons will take place Thursday, October 6th, and Saturday, October 8th, 2022 in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. It's the Vinfast Ironman World Championship. this race is a 140.6-mile triathlon consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike, and a 26.2-mile run.

You've got to be tough to participate in this grueling race, and one Upstate New York person is up for the challenge. According to the New York State Police Facebook page,  Sergeant Edward Croucher from the Troop D Zone in Oneida will be competing in the Ironman World Championship in the Male 55 to 59 division. According to the New York State Police Facebook Page, Sergeant Croucher has competed in Ironman events since 2004. This will be the first time he has participated in The Ironman World Championship.

The Ironman World Championship website describes it as presenting the ultimate test of body, mind, and spirit. The race will challenge athletes through Hawaii's barren lava fields. There are four categories for this triathlon including professional, age group, handcycle, and physically challenged open and exhibition.

For those who want to watch this amazing triathlon featuring athletes from around the world, a live stream will be provided on the Ironman World Championship website. And root on New York State Trooper, Sergeant Edward Croucher.
