20 Country Stars Who’ve Fought Addiction
Most of the artists on this list of country stars who have battled addiction have survived to inspire others fighting the same fight.
Several go above and beyond.
Jelly Roll's arrests and addiction are at the core of everything he produces musically. The same is true for Walker Hayes.
Then there are some who prefer not to be defined by a dark past, and that's totally understandable. It's really not fair to expect everyone who has fought addiction to become the face of recovery, especially if those demons are still right outside the door.

Sadly, two artists on this list did not live to tell a story of sobriety.
There are certainly more in country music, as this list isn't exhaustive. We only included those who've talked openly about going to rehab, or explicitly labeled their troubles with drugs and alcohol an "addiction."
Jon Pardi and Shay Mooney are two who've recently embraced sobriety but don't make this list. Both seemed to have cut booze from their lives for overall health reasons, not because it was threatening to destroy relationships and progress.
