Love chocolate? The next time you go to satisfy that sweet tooth, there may be a little bitter taste to it when you see the price! There are factors causing chocolate prices to rise in New York State.

The rise in prices is actually a global issue as imports and other factors are causing the rise in prices.

Father's Day is coming up on Sunday and for those who are going to try to get dad some chocolate for a gift, expect to pay some of the highest prices that we have seen in seven years.

According to reports from CNBC:

Chocolate prices have risen by 14% in the past year, data from consumer intelligence database NielsenIQ showed. And according to some market watchers, they are about to rise further due to strained supplies of cocoa, which is a significant component of the much-loved foodstuff.

Don't forget dad this weekend or perhaps you have a graduate on the list this year? We are blessed here in Western New York to have some of the best locally-made chocolate and candies. In fact, Platter's Chocolate is once again giving you a chance to be at the Toyota Taste of Country. Look for the "golden ticket" chocolate bars between now and June 23rd for chance to win tickets to the biggest party of the summer!
