Wow, where did the summer go? It's hard to believe that Labor Day weekend is this weekend. Well, there's still plenty of summer left, and if you know me, I'm hanging on until the first frost. Speaking of the Labor Day weekend, are you looking for something fun to do? There's lots to do in the Southern Tier of New York and Northeast Pennsylvania.

And one of those events that I need to check out is one that you don't see regularly. The annual Greene Labor Day Picnic is back for 2021 on Labor Day Monday September 6th at the Ball Flats, and among the many  features it offers for the community, is the ever popular hose fights. Yes, hose fights.

If you've never seen a hose fight, this is definitely an event you should check out. The Greene Fire Department and Labor Day Picnic Committee host the event in the Downtown Green area. There are two divisions, Men's and Women's. The teams are limited to five members and each participant needs to be15 years old or older. It's free to enter, and teams can win prizes.

One of our co-workers is formerly from Greene, and participated in one of the fights. He mentioned that it's not as easy as it looks. When you are on the team holding on to, or aiming the hose, it's not easy to see the ball. But it looks like a lot of fun. Check out these videos of past Greene Labor Day Picnic host fights.

In addition to the hose fights, according to the 2021 Green Labor Day Picnic Facebook Page, the day will also offer games for the kids, food including a chicken BBQ, bounce houses, bingo and music among other fun things to do.
