Garlic Lovers Rejoice! Garlic Fest Returns to Binghamton
If you love garlic, you won't want to miss the chance to add some deliciousness to your weekend with the American Civic Organization’s Annual Multi-Ethnic Garlic Festival!
The Garlic Festival will be held this Saturday, August 25th at the American Civic Association,131 Front Street in Binghamton from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This event is rain or shine and admission will be charged, so be sure to bring cash.
The Garlic Festival will feature an ethnic food court, entertainment and several vendors, many of which will feature crafts, garlic growers and various foods accented by garlic. Sounds delicious, doesn’t it?!?
And just in case you pick up some yummy (and super healthy for you!) garlic, one of my favorite ways to use garlic is to make garlic butter, which is delicious on everything from bread and crackers to veggies and steak.
It's really simple to make garlic butter. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Slice the top off of a head of garlic and then put the head on some tin foil. Drizzle a decent amount of olive oil over the head and wrap it tightly in the tin foil. Place on a cookie sheet in the oven for 35 minutes or so. Let the garlic cool and then gently squeeze each clove out into a mixing bowl. Add two sticks of unsalted butter to the bowl as well as a little bit of salt and a little bit of pepper. Use a mixer to blend everything together and then enjoy!
