Fall fun does not have to necessarily cost a lot of money. A recent poll found that 65 percent of families believe money pressure is making fall activities too expensive. It named three free New York events to visit.

Fort Totten Fall Festival

The Fort Totten Fall Festival in Queens ranked first. It is planned for October 3rd at Fort Totten Park. The park has military buildings and views of Long Island Sound. The event is expected to include vendors, entertainment, and family activities.

Montour Falls Harvest Festival

The Montour Falls Harvest Festival ranked second. Main Street will have free activities, live entertainment, vendors, and food on October 3rd. The event runs from noon to 7:30 p.m. There will be fireworks over the Shequaga Falls and is planned for 7:15 p.m.

Reinstein Woods Fall Festival

The Reinstein Woods Fall Festival in Cheektowaga ranked third. The September 19th event is expected to include guided walks, birdwatching, nature activities, and conservation groups. Families could have a chance to see local wildlife up close.

Free Events Matter to Families

The poll found that over 55 percent of families plan to spend less on fall activities this year. Nearly half searched for free events because of living costs. Sixty-seven percent said free admission will be very important when choosing an event.
