Former Maine Memorial Assistant Fire Chief Passes Away

A long-time veteran of the Maine Volunteer Fire Department has passed away.

90-year-old Wesley Tyler was with the department 50 years, half of that as Assistant Chief. 

Tyler passed away November 14. 

A memorial service will be held in the Town of Maine at a future date but memorial contributions can be made to the Maine Memorial Fire Department, PO Box 357, Maine, NY, 13802.

According to an obituary place by the family, Tyler began fighting fires at the age of 16, was a longtime member of the Broome County Firefighters’ Association, Broome Fire Advisory Board and was instrumental in forming the first ambulance service in the Town of Maine.
