Construction on a year-round farmers market in the Town of Dickinson has been completed and the facility will open soon.

The Broome County Regional Farmers Market is scheduled to open on June 25. A ribbon-cutting event at the new building is to be held three days earlier.

The facility is located behind the Cornell Cooperative Extension building on Upper Front Street. The site is a few yards west of Interstate 81.

The year-round market has been in the works for several years. In 2012, county officials said the complex would be built in Otsiningo Park. That site could not be used because Native American remains were uncovered in an archaeological study.

Although the facility will open next week, a grand opening celebration is planned for July 16. The market is scheduled to operate on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
