The call came in shortly before 9 o’clock with 11 fire departments sent to the scene at 588 Old State Road along with fire investigators, the New York State police and utilities.

Fire officials say the blaze was hard to attack.  In addition to winter weather conditions, water had to be collected into mobile "ponds" and pumped to the house, set far back from County Road 23 on a long driveway.

Emergency Services officials initially said there was no word of injuries but an update January 21 said two bodies were found in the remains of the home.

The investigation is continuing.
