One person was reported injured when a blaze erupted in a three-story apartment house in downtown Binghamton.

According to WICZ FOX 40, the fire at 243 Court Street was reported around 4:15 p.m. Saturday.

One man was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City to be treated for possible smoke inhalation.

Flames were shooting from the first floor of the four-unit apartment building. The fire was reported under control after a few minutes.

The building is located next to the site where the city of Binghamton plans to construct a new fire department headquarters complex.

Two abandoned structures on Court Street and Pine Street were torn down in September to clear the way for the $6.5 million project.
