My younger sister, Beth, celebrated her 28th birthday yesterday. She's a wife and a mom to two precious girls and, she also runs two very successful businesses.

The operations for Beth's air duct cleaning/mold remediation company and her professional cleaning company are based out of her home. There's simply no way that I would be able to juggle a husband, two kids, a home, a bevy of animals and two businesses as flawlessly as my sister does. Beth can be on the phone with a customer, booking an appointment and collecting eggs from her hen house at the same time. It really is interesting to sit back and watch because she doesn't even realize how well she handles everything.

My sister works hard because she wants her girls to be set for the future and she wants them to have the life we didn't get to have as kids. She's a woman on a mission and there's no stopping her. Beth is already dreaming of bigger and better ventures to make sure her family remains financially stable.

The world is definitely changing when it comes to women in business. According to a new survey, successful female business owners are actually outperforming men in business.

BNP Paribas looked at 2,600 high net worth entrepreneurs from 18 countries and found that those companies run by women had 13% higher revenues than those run by men.

Each time my sister told me she was opening another business, part of me was worried that she might not find the success she was searching for, but she's proven me wrong. So, if you're not happy with the wage gap at your job and you've always thought about opening your own business, this should give you something to think about. You could be doing something you love, be your own boss and set your own wage.
