New Yorkers Are Spending More Than Ever on Father’s Day
Father's Day is a big deal for families across New York and the rest of the country. A new study from Gourmet Gift Baskets found that Americans spent a record-breaking $24 billion on Father's Day in 2025.

That's a huge increase from a few years ago and shows that many people are making a bigger effort to celebrate the dads and father figures in their lives.
Spending Has Jumped Since 2019
According to the report, Father's Day spending has increased by 50% since 2019. They also found that over 75% of Americans planned to celebrate Father's Day in 2026. Whether it's a backyard barbecue, a family gathering, or a special gift, families are choosing to make the day memorable.
Experiences Are More Popular Than Ever
Instead of buying traditional gifts, more people are spending money on experiences. Special outings such as dinners, sporting events, and family activities accounted for an almost $5 billion in spending this year.
More People Are Searching for Father's Day Ideas
Interest in Father's Day is growing online as well. Google Trends shows searches for "Father's Day" increased over 55% compared to the previous year. The search interest score rose from 32 to 50 on Google's 100-point scale.
Moms Still Outspend Dads
Even with record Father's Day spending, Mother's Day remains the bigger holiday for shoppers. Americans spent about $10 billion more on Mother's Day than they did on Father's Day.
The biggest spenders for Father's Day were adults between the ages of 35 and 44, who spent an average of nearly $280 per person. For many New York families, it seems Father's Day is becoming less about ties and coffee mugs and more about creating lasting memories together.
