End Nears in Contested 22nd New York Congressional Race

The Southern Tier and Central New York may finally be days away from finding out who will represent the area in the U.S. Congress.

The House resumed work in Washington over the weekend but there was no representative for the 22^nd Congressional District of New York as the race between Democrat Anthony Brindisi and Republican Claudia Tenney is still not settled, two months after election day.

January 4, New York State Supreme Court Justice Scott DelConte is due to go over the contested ballots in the tight race for the 22^nd New York Congressional District which, at last count, had former Congresswoman Claudia Tenney now ahead of incumbent Democrat Anthony Brindisi by 29 votes.

After weeks of recanvassing and issues ranging from misplaced ballots to sticky notes falling off questioned votes, Judge DelConte has hundreds of votes to review.

After the polls closed November 3, Tenney led the race and her quest to regain her congressional seat by 28,000 votes. That lead dwindled to a mere dozen as absentee and affidavit ballots were tallied.
