My dog Odessa always uses these dramatic puppy-eyes when she's either laying on the couch or bed with me. It's nearly impossible to not give her attention when she does this.

According to a study back in 2017, this is completely on purpose on a dog's part.

The study done by Nature.com says that dogs are more likely to use certain facial expressions, most notably "puppy-dog" eyes, when they know humans are watching and it works to gain their attention.

In fact, research done says that shelter dogs who use those sad facial expressions are more likely to get adopted over other dogs who are wagging their tails.

This news is not surprising at all -- my dog is a expert with these sad faces and yeah, no way I'm not going to give in every single time.
