Dozens of golf clubs taken in a series of break-ins at a Broome County campground were recovered from a small pond by a couple of sheriff's office detectives.

Two town of Nanticoke men - 22-year-old Evan Wade and 19-year-old Seth Pesotine - have been charged with burglary and petit larceny.

Detective Tom Sienko said the men are suspected of breaking into three campers and two storage sheds at Fire Fox Resorts on Rabbit Path Road about two weeks ago.

Golf clubs, fishing poles, a pop-up tent and a television were among the items reported stolen.

After one of the suspects revealed that some of the stuff had been thrown into a pond,  Sienko and fellow detective Matt Barcak donned wet suits and retrieved 34 golf clubs. They also found a few other items that had been reported stolen.

Wade and Pesotine were released on appearance tickets.
