Dads Thank David Beckham For Bringing Back the Hawaiian Shirt

The weather is getting warmer and summer will be here before we know it. So what will the fashion trend be this summer? Will it be crazy sandals or funky sunglasses? From what I've seen so far, the summer of 2021 could be the summer of...Hawaiian shirts.

I was at church recently when I noticed a few people wearing Hawaiian shirts and then later that day, I was downtown Binghamton and it seemed that wherever I turned, there were colorful and uniquely patterned shirts.

I was giddy and I couldn't wait to wear mine again. However, I don't think that my work partner, Traci, shares my excitement because when I was telling her about the comeback of the Hawaiian shirt, her response was "NOOOOOOOO!" She looked at me with pleading eyes that pretty much begged me not to wear mine.

So, I did the next day (because what fun would work be if we didn't tease each other?). I didn't just wear my shirt, but I asked Traci to take a photo of me in it. She said that the only way she'd snap a photo would be if I at least agreed to strike my best David Beckham pose. I did but I'm pretty sure I still look like a dorky dad and I'm okay with that.

Speaking of David Beckham, we have him to thank for the resurgence of the Hawaiian shirt because David Beckham wore one in Miami and it's all anyone has been able to talk about.

I figure if the Hawaiian shirt is good enough for David Beckham, it's good enough for me. So, Hawaii party animals, our time is back. Let's rock this colorful trend this summer while it lasts. Oh, and don't forget to top off your outfit with the classic dad socks paired with sandals!
