We are in the middle of fair season, with The Great New York State Fair starting on Wednesday. Fairs are fun because of the games, the livestock, but let's be real, we all want to try the strange fair food!

I love fair food. It's a mix of foods that you otherwise wouldn't get anywhere else. Is everything fried? Pretty much. Is everything high in calories? That's what makes it delicious. One week and then *poof* you can't have it until next year (I'm looking at you fried oreos). Have you ever seen some of the craziest concoctions that fairs around here have had? I found a list of the 10 craziest food at the New York State Fair on their website, here are a few of them. Have you found anything stranger at our local fairs?

  • Deep-fried breakfast: bacon, sausage, ham, hash browns and eggs all dipped in batter, deep fried, and covered in maple syrup
  • The Bacon Bomb sandwich: it has Italian sausage (wrapped in smoked bacon), bacon crumbles, cheddar cheese and BBQ sauce on a hard roll
  • The Big Kahuna Donut Burger: starts with a quarter-pound of burger, with a grilled glazed doughnut as bread, and bacon, the cheese of your choice, lettuce, tomato and onion
  • The Milky Bun: a donut cut in half and stuffed with ice cream and toppings of your choice
