Cortland Woman Admits Taking Explicit Photos of Child
A Cortland woman will be sentenced in July for sexually exploiting a child under the age of five.
39-year-old Sarah Gates admits she and Christopher Perry sexually exploited the child while taking photos on cell phones several times in 2017.
She faces up to 30-years in prison for each of three felony counts. Perry is serving 45-years in federal prison.
Federal prosecutors say Gates admitted she and Perry had inappropriate contact a toddler for the purpose of producing images of the abuse.

Senior United States District Judge Thomas McAvoy is scheduled to sentence Gates to a mandatory minimum of 15 years for each of the three counts of conspiracy and exploitation to which she pleaded guilty with a maximum sentence of 30 years in federal prison. She also faces a fine of up to $250,000 and five years to life on probation. She is required to register as a sex offender.
