Broome DMV Offices to Provide Online Appointment Option
Broome County residents soon will be able to make appointments for DMV services by using their computer or other online device.
County clerk Joseph Mihalko says he expects the online appointment service will be operational as soon as Monday.
Mihalko says the option will provide an alternative to making DMV appointments by phone. The online system will allow people to schedule transactions at the offices operated by Broome County on Chenango Street in Binghamton and Washington Avenue in Endicott.
DMV offices were closed for several weeks last spring because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Long lines developed when offices reopened in June. The state ordered county-operated DMV offices to move to an appointment-only system the following month.
Mihalko said workers in Broome County DMV offices have been "very busy" in recent weeks. He said the offices processed about 12,000 transactions in July.
