ORIGINAL STORY:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently announced its guidelines on Halloween trick-or-treating for kids and the news was grim for our children as the CDC recommended that families do their best to avoid 'traditional trick-or-treating.'

So that our kids don't have to completely miss out on all of the fun that comes with Halloween, from costumes to candy, various places in the country have creatively come up with ways to bring joy to kids through Drive-Thru Trunk-or-Treat events where kids can collect candy from the safety of their parent's vehicle.

In Chenango County, the Afton Fairgrounds will host a Drive-Thru Trunk-or-Treat event on Saturday, October 31 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and in Broome County, the Broome County Department of Parks, Recreation and Youth Services they too will host a Drive-Thru Trunk-or-Treat at Otsiningo Park in the Town of Dickinson on October 31.

The Broome County Park's Drive-Thru Trunk-or-Treat will take place from  11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Admission to the event will be free and all state and federal COVID-19 guidelines will be strictly followed, which means that all participating, whether as a candy giver or candy receiver, are asked to wear a face covering.

If your business or organization is interested in participating in decorating your trunk and providing treats, please make sure to read the registration information and rules. Should you have questions or concerns, please call (607)778-2193.
