Broome County Men Sentenced for JC & Town & Country Shootings
The Broome County District Attorney’s office says the crackdown on illegal weapons continues with the sentencing of two men.
A news release from Broome County District Attorney Michael Korchak’s office says 30-year-old Denzel Duncan of Johnson City will serve six years in New York State Prison.
The sentencing in Broome County Court comes after Duncan pleaded guilty to a felony charge of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.
Duncan admitted in court that, on Sunday, the 24th of April this year, he possessed a loaded .9-millimeter pistol with the intent to use it unlawfully against another person. The incident in question happened in the Village of Johnson City.
Authorities say the .9-millimeter pistol was fired in the area of Brocton and Diment Streets. No one was hit and there were no injuries.

Back in April, Village police reported Duncan was suspected of firing at a vehicle occupied by someone he knew at around 8 o’clock on that Sunday morning. He was taken into custody three days later on Arlington Street in the Village.
Initial charges against Duncan had included attempted murder and criminal use of a firearm in addition to three counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Meanwhile, 47-year-old Erick Jones of Binghamton will serve 3 1/2 years in New York State Prison after pleading guilty to Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.
Korchak’s office says Jones possessed a loaded .38-caliber revolver in the vicinity of Robert Street in the City of Binghamton on May 28th of 2021.
Residents of the Town & Country Apartments reported hearing several gunshots at around 8:30 in the morning and City Police searched an area outside of Building 20.
Jones was found at a home on Clinton Street later in the day and taken into custody.
In his news release, D.A. Korchak thanked the Johnson City and Binghamton Police Departments for quick investigations and arrests. He says, “Possessing illegal unlicensed firearms equals prison time in Broome County.”
