On Thursday, August 6th, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and Chairman of the Broome County Legislature Daniel J. Reynolds announced that the Broome County Dog Shelter will be renamed.

It will be renamed the "James D. Dadamio Broome County Dog Shelter" in honor of retired Director of Broome County Security James D. Dadamio. He has been a New York State Peace Officer with the Broome County Government Security Division for over 35 years.

He has served its Director since July 2006. As Director, he has overseen the Broome County Dog Shelter which has provided a safe and healthy place for the stray and unwanted dogs within the County.

He's also served as President of the New York State Welfare Fraud Investigators Association for 6 years. Dadamio has delivered numerous training presentations on personal risk awareness, field safety, and other security practices to both the public and private sectors.

The Broome County Dog Shelter is located on 110 Cutler Pond Road in Binghamton. It has been in operation since 1956 and you can found out more about them here.
