Broome County Executive Jason Garnar says he wants to meet with local businesses this week to talk about plans for reopening the economy as the region gains control of the spread of COVID-19.

Garnar says Broome County and the rest of the Southern Tier Region are ready to begin Phase One of reopening that involves manufacturing and construction.  New York State is preparing to green-light reopening certain regions beginning May 15.

Garnar says, however, the other businesses not included in the first phase should be ready with their strategies for meeting the state and Centers for Disease Control guidelines for reopening including social distancing, sanitizing and other criteria.

The Democrat will hold Zoom conferences at noon each day tMay 12, 13 and 14.  Businesses should only register for one session.
